So why learn how to speak Spanish? Well, it is the 3rd most-used language in the world and the 2nd most-used language inside the USA. It's also widely spoken and understood inside the European Union. And, if you happen to speak English, it's easy; there are several common roots of English and Spanish, many common words.
Lots of people say, "I'd personally really like to learn to speak Spanish, but I don't have time". Normally they're just thinking about the traditional classroom method of learning languages that they experienced in secondary school. You know how that has worked. At a certain time you go to a specific place and sit there for an hour or so while a teacher talks to you on some aspect of the language.
But that is the OLD way! Now it's very different. You could teach yourself Spanish! How can you do that? You go online, download a Spanish-learning course to your hard disk, then offload the audio lessons to your iPod, other portable audio device or make yourself a learning Spanish cd. You can then listen to and practice your lessons whenever, anywhere you'd like to! You're in complete control of that time period and location.
The most effective way to master another language is the same way you learned English. You start by using a few words, you work with them in conversation, for questions and answers. Gradually you go on to more complicated ideas and learn how to understand and speak more and more. You do not need dreary hours of memorizing vocabulary and conjugating verbs. (You were in all probability in the 3rd to 5th grade and already spoke very good English before you even learned the word "vocabulary"! And also you were most likely in middle school or high school when you learned the word "conjugation".)
All you actually need to learn Spanish is a good learn-Spanish interactive audio course and time to hear it and practice. You may go slowly or rapidly, learn Spanish just a little at a time or go rapidly and learn Spanish like crazy! It is really all under your control, all depends on what YOU want to try and do...
We reside in a constantly shrinking multilingual world. Don't let the limitation of only speaking one language hold you back!
